Nayanthara is reprising Vidya Balan’s role in the Kahaani remake, titled Anaamika.
The bilingual in Tamil and Telugu marks the debut of critically acclaimed Telugu director Sekhar Kammula in K’town.
The story is about a pregnant woman, who comes to India in search of her missing husband. Vidya’s character’s name was Vidya Bagchi in the original, which also had Kolkata as the backdrop. Instead of Kolkata, the film will be set in old Hyderabad.
Currently, it is said to be filming at real locations, amidst the chaos of Murgi Market, the famous Choodi Bazaar, Sultan Bazaar, iconic Charminar and Begum Bazaar.
Nayanthara is reported to have said, “It’s an honour to have worked with a critically acclaimed and award-winning director like Sekhar.”
She added, “I am thrilled to be a part of this project which gave me an opportunity to play a strong female character. With a completely new look in Anaamika, I hope that audiences will appreciate the film and my role in it.” The film will have a Dussehra release.
