Taapsee Pannu is one of the most outspoken actresses in the industry. The Sardarni, who is known for her bold statements, will turn 26 in a few weeks from now. She is now awaiting the release of Ajith’s upcoming untitled film wherein she has been paired opposite Arya. The shoot of the Vishnuvardhan-directed film has been wrapped up and the post-production work is on currently.
Talking to newsmen recently, Tapasee reacted to questions on various topics. Here are a few:
Have you ever felt cheated by an actor?
Of course; it’s with Arya. During the breaks in shoot, he would narrate an incident very seriously to me which I would listen to with all my attention. After some time, he’d pull my legs saying that he was just reciting his own imaginative story. This (cheating) has occurred plenty of times and each time I would invariably find myself at the receiving end.
It is said that you are more ‘liberal’ when it comes to donning glamour-filled costumes in Telugu films…
Tamil audiences want films to be realistic and sans any artificial stories. They seek simple and natural scripts. However, the Telugu audiences want everything served in a grand manner; their taste is vastly different from Tamils. I am forced to look glamorous in Telugu films for sure; yet, it doesn’t mean that I won’t be starring glamorously in Tamil films.
Has Hansika taken over your place in Kollywood?
Is it so? I have no idea about that and don’t want to bother about it too. Hansika seems to concentrate only in Tamil whereas I’m busy in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi movies too. I get offers which are destined to come my way. Nobody can hijack others’ offers and I feel the industry has space for all actresses.
What about the many rumours floating about you…
I know I’m the pet child of controversies and rumours. At the beginning of my career, I used to worry about all the things that were written about me. Later, I got used to it and now whenever I come across some rumours about me, I laugh out aloud.
What do you like most about Chennai?
Of course, the sambar. No other city in the world can match the tasteful sambar made here. I have a go at sambar whenever I get the opportunity.
Do you perform yoga to keep the mind under control?
Certainly not. I just don’t have the patience to perform yoga. I can’t concentrate on one thing for a long time. I only hit the gym regularly and swim occasionally. I can’t do anything more than that as I just don’t have the time to do so.
